Applying for a partner visa in Australia is a significant financial commitment.
The government’s visa application charge is around AUD 9,095 for the main applicant as of 2025 (the fee is the same whether you apply in Sydney, Hobart or any other city). This charge is payable upon lodgement and is non-refundable, even if the visa is refused.
Adding family members will increase the cost (an additional AUD 4,550 for a secondary applicant over 18, or AUD 2,280 for a child).
On top of the visa fee, applicants should budget for other expenses: mandatory health examinations (around $300–$500 per person), police clearance certificates, biometrics, document translation fees and legal fees.
