Engaged couples who have yet to marry can consider the Prospective Marriage visa (subclass 300), often called the fiancé visa Australia. This temporary visa lets the applicant come to Australia to marry their Australian partner within 9 months. It’s ideal for couples planning a wedding (for example, a Gold Coast bride or groom-to-be waiting abroad). Once married, the applicant can then apply for an onshore partner visa (820/801) without needing to leave Australia.
Keep in mind the costs: the fiancé visa has a significant fee (around AUD 9,095), but the subsequent partner visa is discounted (approx. AUD 1,515 for 820/801).
